KickOff.com can confirm that new Orlando Pirates striker Augustine Mulenga rejected advances from Egyptian giants Al Ahly in favour of joining the Buccaneers.
The Zambian Footballer of the Year is set to link up with Pirates next week after penning a three-year deal with the club from Zanaco.
Zanaco chairman Edward Mutale backs Mulenga to swiftly adjust to the Absa Premiership and impress for Bucs.
"Yes, it's true, Al Ahly was one of the teams that was interested in him," Mutale tells KickOff.com.
"The problem with North African teams, sometimes they don't honour their contracts and our players always struggle to adapt easily that side.
"We believe the environment in the PSL is similar to the one in Zambia. I believe his style of play suits Orlando Pirates.
"We watch the PSL games in Zambia, the competition is fierce. He has to work hard. He is a very good player and we have no doubt he will succeed at Pirates."
Mulenga is the second Zambian to join the Sea Robbers this season after fellow forward Justin Shonga.
