Ajax Cape Town defender Mario Booysen credited his teammates for sticking to the game plan in the win over Orlando Pirates.
New signing Yannick Zakri netted a brace to inspire the Urban Warriors to a 3-0 win over the Soweto giants at the Cape Town Stadium.
Booysen, who was named Man of the Match, was naturally pleased with the victory for the relegation-threatened outfit.
“It was a tough match but our game plan worked. You can see we played on the break today. I have to give credit to the boys. We stuck to the game plan and worked as a team. I dedicate this award to the team. We wanted this three points to get out of the situation we are in so every point is going to count for us,” Booysen told SuperSport TV.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns defender went on to say that he did not shy away from responsibility.
“In certain situations we dropped a bit deep so I had to ask him [coach Muhsin Ertugral] who should take certain roles but we all took responsibility. It looked like we defended but that was our game plan because we knew they are a team that likes to keep the ball. We knew that we gonna wait for them and get them on a counter.”
When asked is he was surprised by the score-line he said: "With the type of strikers we have in the team I think we can expect more if we keep clean sheets at the back. I think we will see more goals coming.”
