The eligibility of Ajax Cape Town striker Tendai Ndoro has once again been cast in doubt after the Premier Soccer League released a statement on Wednesday afternoon.
Ndoro was cleared by the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber on Wednesday morning, following a hearing on Monday.
The details of the ruling has yet to be released, but Ajax announced the outcome on their official Twitter page.
The Zimbabwean international joined the Urban Warriors earlier this month after a brief spell in Saudi Arabia.
His eligibility came under scrutiny after it was established that Ajax became the third club he has turned out for this season, which is in contravention of FIFA's Regulations on the Status and Transfers of Players.
Ndoro featured once for Orlando Pirates in August, six times for Al Faisaly and twice recently for Ajax.
"The Premier Soccer League has noted the ruling of the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber (DRC) on the matter involving Ajax Cape Town and Mr Tendai Ndoro.
"This morning, the PSL DRC issued a declaration order which cleared Mr Ndoro to play for Ajax Cape Town
"The PSL respects the decision of the DRC but disagrees with it. Consequently, the League will be taking the decision on appeal," read a statement from the league.
Meanwhile, a PSL spokesperson has referred back to "Rule 24" of the NSL Handbook on whether Ndoro is available for this evening's Absa Premiership clash against Orlando Pirates.
Rule 24: Appeals
24.1. Appeals against decisions of the Judicial Tribunals (save where the Dispute Resolution Chamber arbitrates disputes which will in the event of an appeal be referred directly to the SAFA Arbitration Tribunal) will be regulated by the SAFA and FIFA Regulations.
24.2. The League must be served with a copy of every notice of appeal by the appellant at the time that the appeal is lodged with SAFA in accordance with the SAFA Statutes.
24.3. An appeal against an order of the Disciplinary Committee or the Dispute Resolution Chamber will not suspend the operation of that order pending the finalisation of any appeal or arbitration in respect of that order.
As stated above, in Rule 24.3, the PSL's appeal against the DRC's ruling will not suspend the outcome, which cleared Ndoro for action.
Therefore, it can be presumed that the 29-year-old frontman will still be part of Ajax's matchday squad at Cape Town Stadium this evening. Kick-off is set for 19h30.
