Khethokwakhe Masuku is now taking his search for a new club to the National First Division after Bidvest Wits decided against signing him.

The former Orlando Pirates and Bloemfontein Celtic winger is currently training with NFD leaders Highlands Park, hoping to impress coach Owen da Gama.

Last week Masuku, who left Celtic in the new year, revealed his frustration at not finding a club to before he decided to try his luck at Wits.

"He [Masuku] just got there, he is training. He needs a few weeks to get fit then we'll see. He is not fit hey, he's been out a bit so give him a month. He is a free agent, give him a month then we can assess it. The boy needs some time," Highlands CEO Brad Kaftel tells

Masuku’s representative Sechaba Masina says his client will soon find a new home.

"He was training with Wits," Masina says.

"And then Gavin [Hunt, the Bidvest Wits head coach] opted to look at the squad he has for now. We are just promising his supporters that soon they will see him in action. Hopefully he will be back in action locally."

Jomo Cosmos, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzhivhandila FC, Real Kings and Mbombela United are also said to be interested in the player.
