SuperSport United's Aubrey Modiba believes they can move up the table

SuperSport United winger Aubrey Modiba says they are not entertaining the thought of getting relegated this season.
With 12 matches to go this season, Matsatsantsa A Pitori find themselves in 13th place, just six points ahead bottom of the table Platinum Stars and four clear of 15th placed Ajax Cape Town, who occupy the end of season play-offs spot.
This is a dangerous situation for struggling SuperSport, who have only managed to win five times this season.
The 2017 CAF Confederation Cup finalists have registered just one victory in their last 12 Absa Premiership matches, a run which has put coach Eric Tinkler under tremendous pressure.
They host AmaZulu at Lucas Moripe Stadium tomorrow night (19h30), a side they lost 2-0 to 10 days ago in Umlazi.
“We are not thinking of that [relegation]. Teams are winning games and we have to make sure we win games as well. If you win, you can go to number nine. That has been pushing us to work even hard. We win another game after that then we can get into the top eight. That as well is giving us confidence, to keep trying to get results,” Modiba tells KickOff.com.
SuperSport were hammered 4-1 by Bidvest Wits on Saturday, despite taking a first half lead through captain Dean Furman. They’ve squandered leads in recent weeks, which is a big concern. Modiba admits they tend to panic when they concede and start worrying about losing.
“In a game we score one goal and as soon as the opponent equalises we tend to panic that they might score another and then we lose the game. That has been our downfall.
“Also we need to convert our chances. We need to score two or three goals to make it hard for opponents to come back. But we score first and then draw or end up losing. Our concentration levels are not good. But we keep on going because no one will take us out of this situation but ourselves. We will keep grinding. We have good players and we will get back to winning ways.”
