Orlando Pirates administrator Floyd Mbele has assured the club's fans that Abbubaker Mobara is staying at Mayfair.

Mobara was linked with Bidvest Wits as part of a swap deal involving fellow midfielder Xolani Mlambo, who on Monday was announced as a Buccaneers signing.

Mobara missed Pirates' 2-0 win over Platinum Stars at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday, fueling talk the Bucs vice-captain was on his way out of Mayfair this transfer window.

However, Mbele says Mobara sat out the league game due to injury along with Sea Robbers skipper Thabo Matlaba. Mpho Makola led the Soweto giants in the pair's absence.

"Mobara is still part of the team," Mbele tells

"He is nursing an injury and that's the reason he missed the game against Platinum Stars. The same situation with Matlaba."

Pirates, who have loaned defender Ayanda Gcaba to Dikwena, today announced the signing of Zambian Footballer of the Year Augustine Mulenga.
