KickOff.com has learnt that AmaZulu have placed an offer to Orlando Pirates for the services of Thamsanqa Sangweni.
Sangweni has only played three times for Pirates this season, as an injury hampered his progress following his arrival from Chippa United in July last year.
Bucs - who announced the signing of fellow central midfielder Xola Mlambo from Bidvest Wits on Monday - are looking to release Sangweni before the transfer window closes on Wednesday, according to a source.
"Pirates are looking to release Thamsanqa Sangweni," says the source.
"AmaZulu has made contact to express their interest."
Sangweni, the younger brother of Buccaneers legend Siyabonga, started his career with Usuthu before joining Mamelodi Sundowns in July 2012.
He struggled for game-time at the Brazilians and was loaned to Ajax Cape Town and the Chilli Boys.
Pirates yesterday off-loaded defender Ayanda Gcaba to relegation-threatened Platinum Stars.
