Chippa United coach Teboho Moloi was impressed with Fares Hachi’s performance on debut against Maritzburg United on Friday night.
Hachi was unable to get ahead of Tebogo Langerman in the starting line-up at Mamelodi Sundowns, so he was loaned out by the Chloorkop outfit to open up a foreign slot.
The Algerian left-back made just six appearances for the former African champions this season before making his move to Port Elizabeth.
“He performed very well, even though it was not one of his best performances. We need to understand he has not been playing regularly, but he played so well that you could not see that he was not playing at Sundowns,” Moloi says.
“If he can give me that performance when he is not in good condition, can you imagine how he will do when he is in the right codition, knows his teammates and understands the way he wants to play.”
Moloi plans to use Hachi in a more advanced position on the left flank.
“That’s what I want from him. He is versatile. He brings in experience, talks to players.
“He comes from North Africa where preparation for the game is key. It’s important to have a player like him who has played at the highest level. He says he wishes he could express himself in English so that he can speak to his teammates better, but the little he speaks is good.”
