Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has downplayed the significance of Kaizer Chiefs taking four points off his side this season.

Chiefs and Sundowns managed to cancel each other out as they played to a goalless Absa Premiership draw at the FNB Stadium on Saturday evening.

The first half saw both sides pushing for an early goal, but neither could crack through the other's defensive line, while the second half was a more tactical battle.

The result means The Brazilians have this season failed to take three points off Amakhosi in a single season for the first time since the arrival of Steve Komphela.

However, Mosimane, who is one of the most competitive coaches in the PSL, was unperturbed by this record, arguing that Chiefs are a good side deserving of the results over the two legs.

"It's not for me to be emotional here, I'm not out to get revenge. This is trying to win a championship here, not who won first and who didn't win," defended Mosimane.

"So, I'm not emotional about that. I look at the game, and this was a big game, and they are a good team.

"By the way, we lost against AmaZulu, if you can remember, so I think it's okay – a point is good, don't be emotional."

Sundowns also missed out on an opportunity to stretch their lead at the top of the standings, with Cape Town City, Orlando Pirates and Chiefs all in with a shot for honours. But Mosimane is adamant his concern is not with the chasing pack.

"We must look at the process, the outcome will sort itself," he added.

"And don't look at the neighbours, because you know how Steve [Komphela] always says, when you envy other people on the other side. So, look after your [own] job."

Downs next visit The Citizens for a top-of-the-table clash at Athlone Stadium on Friday evening, with kick-off set for 20h00.
