Spanish La Liga match report FC Barcelona v Alaves 28 January 2018

Posted: 28 January 2018 Time: 22:44

FC Barcelona maintained their unbeaten run in La Liga with a 2-1 win over Deportivo Alaves at the Camp Nou.

The Catalan giants managed to carve out a couple openings in the first 15 minutes with Lucas Digne and Lionel Messi going close.

However, it was the home side who took the lead in the 22nd minute as a quick counter saw John Guidetti slip through on goal and fire past Ter Stegen.

Barca nearly leveled matters in the 43rd minute when Messi's free-kick was turned onto the upright by Pacheco.

That was the final chance of the half, as Barca went into the break trailing.

Ernesto Valverde was not pleased with the lack of chances, and he introduced Jordi Alba, Sergi Roberto and Paco Alcacer in the opening 20 minutes of the second stanza.

The equaliser eventually arrived in the 72nd minute when Andres Iniesta's cross found Luis Suarez, who volleyed home from a tight angle.

The turnaround was complete in the 84th minute courtesy of a fine free-kick from Messi that left Pacheco with no chance.
