Doc: We breathe same air as 'Big Three'

Baroka FC technical director Doctor Khumalo has given the club credit for doing well this season even though they do not have the resources of many other PSL teams.
After surviving relegation via the play-offs last season, Baroka came into the 2017/18 campaign with renewed vigour. They have consistently been in the top eight and were at the top of the table at one point.
Khumalo says he made the Baroka players realise they breathe the same air as those who play for the 'Big Three' of Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
“It’s all about finding themselves and understanding who they are and not to admire [the opposition]. You breathe the same air as any player from Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, so why do you have to admire them? So the change [this season] has been understanding who they are and understanding why we are in the PSL,” Khumalo said.
“I told them if you really want to be counted out there, then they should not look at which team you are playing against, but your performance determines if you will be known as the best players.”
Last season Baroka finished the season on 28 points, which is just three more than what they have collected in 18 matches in this campaign. A top-eight finish is very possible, but they need to make sure they are consistent, especially at home.
“We are still in the chasing pack and I must give them credit because this is what we were planning since I have arrived. Also not to forget that teams like Baroka lack certain resources that other teams have, but at the end of the day it’s a matter of improvising, in terms of what it is you really want to achieve.
“We must give credit to the technical team, the chairman and the players for the job well done because it has not been easy to bring the Baroka ship to where it is now.”
