It is as yet known when the fixture will take place or who the Tshwane giants will be hosting, but Motsepe says they are currently in discussions with a “top European” side.

Without giving much away, the Sundowns boss couldn’t contain himself as he also revealed plans to co-host with another unnamed local club.

“There’s something exciting we’re looking at… Maybe we shouldn’t talk about it before it happens,” said Motsepe.

“There’s some exploratory discussions with a very … We get requests all the time from some of the top European teams to come and play against Sundowns during the off-season. And, for us, if you are not really, really up there, we don’t get too excited.

“But there’s one of those that's really up there, that’s talking to us about playing us in South Africa. But, what we thought is, we’re exploring to do something different and have them play one game against us and one against another club.

“But those are things we’re exploring, because it’s important to make sure that we get some of our players to play against the very, very best in the world.”

The Brazilians previously hosted Spanish giants FC Barcelona in a pre-season friendly at Loftus Versfeld back in 2007.

The visitors walked away 2-1 victors, thanks to second-half goals from Santiago Ezquerro and Marc Crosas that cancelled out Surprise Moriri’s first-half opener.
