Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu is hoping to continue improving his game in France and has revealed his desire to take up more responsibility in the national team.
Zungu has recently returned from a slight knee injury, which saw him substituted in the 1-0 defeat to Nice and subsequently miss last week's stalemate with Keagan Dolly's Montpellier.
Speaking exclusively to KickOff.com, the 25-year-old playmaker outlined his hopes for 2018, which amongst them is helping his club side Amiens maintain their Ligue 1 status.
Amiens were promoted at the end of last season, and are currently in 13th position in their maiden topflight campaign.
"Firstly, I'd like to continue my good work with Amiens, and hopefully help the team stay in Ligue 1," says Zungu, before adding his wish take up a bigger role in Bafana.
"Secondly, I'm hoping for more caps for Bafana Bafana and I'm also dreaming of becoming captain one day.
"I know that sounds weird, but I was talking to my family about it the other day. In fact, my brother asked me, 'Do you see yourself one day leading the nation?'
"And I felt like, 'Yeah, man! Maybe one day'. But it comes with time … I first need to maintain the good work at my club, continue working hard and trying to improve more."
