Katsande: This is a turning point for Kaizer Chiefs

Posted: 21 January 2018 Time: 18:38

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande believes his side has what it takes to go all the way and claim league honours.

Katsande was awarded the Man of the Match award as Amakhosi came from behind to register a 2-1 win over Baroka on Sunday afternoon.

Chiefs have now moved up to third spot, and Katsande believes they showed championship mentality to get the win.

"We knew that it was going to be a tough game. One of my [former] coaches once told me that it takes a second to concede a goal. Once we scored we knew that they were going to be over confident. Us as professionals playing for a big team like Kaizer Chiefs, we knew that if we took the game to them we were going to get something," Katsande told SuperSport TV.

"We were also trying to turn the tables because they said we have never won against Baroka. I think this might be the turning point also after coming back from a goal down in two consecutive matches it means this is a championship mentality and performance. I think credit must go to everyone in defence, they were amazing. We just need to build on this performance going forward.

"The kids that we have now are exciting, they have purpose. Us as senior players we're trying to guide them and make them taste how it feels to win something with a big team like Kaizer Chiefs."
