Chippa, Arrows share the spoils

Posted: 21 January 2018 Time: 12:28

Chippa United and Golden Arrows played to a disappointing 0-0 draw in an Absa Premiership encounter.

Chippa started with an early attack in an effort to return to winning ways, but Limbikani Mzava averted the danger for the visitors in the opening minutes of the game.

They came close to goal once again, but failed to get any effort on target following good interplay from Thabo Rakhale and Paseka Mako.

Arrows came out of their shell, and strutted a few moves of their own and brought in Knox Mutizwa, but the latter fired wide of goal.

Mxolisi Machupu came face to face with Nkosingiphile Gumede after Abafana Besthende’s defence went to sleep, but Gumede came up with a great save after eight minutes.

Chippa went on the attack after 10 minutes when Kurt Lentjies beat Musa Bilankulu, only for the veteran playmaker to be blocked by a wall of Arrows defenders.

Rakhale beat two defenders before crossing the ball but neither of his teammates were able to connect with his delivery.

After a disappointing first half from both sides, the second half was a bit livelier with both teams taking shots at each other.

Arrows tried to get the winner, but their attempts from Danny Venter and Kudakwashe Mahachi went wide of goal.

Chances from both sides in the second period were few and far between as the game ended goalless.
