The South Africa U-17 team have cancelled a trip to Swaziland following the murder of National Football Association of Swaziland vice-president Victor Gamedze.
Amajimbos were set to cross the border today having scheduled practice matches for tomorrow and on Saturday.
But with Mbabane Swallows boss Gamedze gunned down this past Sunday, the NFAS asked Amajimbos to cancel the trip.
Team manager Barney Kujane expressed SAFA's condolences for the friends and family of Gamedze, who will be buried this Sunday.
“The South African Football Association would like to extend its deepest condolences to the family and friends of VP Gamedze and the football fraternity as a whole. This is a huge tragedy; we therefore understand and support their request to cancel our trip.
“The team will continue training this morning in Johannesburg as we look to see if we can alter our plans and possibly get another neighbouring country to play at such short notice,” said Kujane.
Amajimbos are preparing for the 2018 COSAFA Youth Championships.
