Posted: 11 January 2018 Time: 21:52

Barcelona advanced to the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey after thumping Celta Vigo 5-0 in the second leg on Thursday evening.

Barca took the lead after 13 minutes as Jordi Alba raided down the flank and fired a low cross into the box, where Lionel Messi was on hand to slot home.

It was 2-0 two minutes later when Alba and Messi combined once again with the latter scoring with a first-time finish.

Jordi Alba then registered his name on the scoresheet with a strike at the far post after being picked out by Messi.

Moments later, Barca grabbed their fourth goal on the night when Luis Suarez pounced on Pione Sista's poor back pass before slotting past Alvarez.

Jasper Cillessen, who deputised for Marc-Andre ter Stegen between the sticks, was not forced into any serious saves in the opening 45 minutes.

The fifth goal arrived three minutes from the full-time whistle when an un-marked Ivan Rakitic sent a fine header into the top corner following a cross from Ousmane Dembele.

Barca, who are the holders of the cup, claimed an impressive 5-0 win on the night and a 6-1 aggregate victory.

Other results:

Sevilla 2-1 Cadiz (Sevilla won 4-1 on aggregate)

Levante 0-2 Espanyol (Espanyol won 3-2 on aggregate)
