Hunt: Pule is leaving Wits

Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt has hinted that winger Vincent Pule will be leaving at the end of the season for a “big club”.

Pule, who is finally getting regular game time at the club, is one of the best performing players in Hunt’s side this season, but his performances have been overshadowed by the results in the Absa Premiership.

He did, however, play the role of hero when he scored a stoppage time winner to inspire Wits to the Telkom Knockout title in December.

The 25-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, so he can sign a pre-contract with the club of his choice.

Kaizer Chiefs are said to be interested in the player who has made 15 appearances in all competitions this season and he could end up at Naturena.

Hunt, though, made it clear that the player would not be leaving this month as he still needs him in his side.

“I think he has been signed by a big club in South Africa. He’s not going to leave now, but in June. I don’t want him to leave, but what can we do?” said Hunt earlier this week.

Pule, who has been playing ahead of Daine Klate on the left wing, is likely to start when the Clever Boys take on Chippa United at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Sunday (15h30).

Wits registered only their third victory of the season when they beat SuperSport United 2-0 at Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday and are eager to build on the result to move away from the relegation zone.
