Bidvest Wits’ Sam Ramasoeu and Phenyo Mongala of the University of Pretoria have been called up by Botswana for their friendly match against New Zealand on June 6.
The international in Gaborone presents the first chance for a full international cap for the pair, who have both impressed over the last six months. Mongala has been linked to several top teams after his goals helped knock out Kaizer Chiefs in the second round of the Nedbank Cup. Mongala has since helped AmaTuks to the Final on May 23. Ramasoeu joined Wits in the January transfer window after a spell in New Zealand. Also called up for the game is Santos captain Mogogi Gabonomong, who boycotted last June’s World Cup qualifiers. Captain Dipsy Selolwane from Ajax Cape Town is expected to lead the team. The only South African-based player not called up is injury-prone Santos striker Jerome Ramatlhakwane.
