Micho hails Musa Nyatama, says Orlando Pirates must heal The Ghost

Posted: 10 January 2018 Time: 14:00

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin 'Micho' Sredojevic hopes The Ghost's suffering will become a thing of the past at Orlando Stadium this year.

Pirates started 2018 with a 3-1 win over Baroka in Soweto last weekend, leaving the Buccaneers eight points shy of log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns after 16 games.

Bucs' fans have had a hard time in recent years, having last had cause for celebration when the club won the Nedbank Cup in 2014.

Micho is determined to remedy their pain.

“People come to the stadium here as a hospital where they want to be healed in their soul,” said the Serbian.

“We want together with the players, all of us from the technical team, from management to do everything possible that we prepare our team, that we heal their soul and make them happy.

“We have entered a new year with new spirit. You know in a big club when you win it is so normal. We have nothing to look at now, it's past history. When you draw it's a huge question mark. When you lose it's a revolution. So we are fully aware of that. Forgetting this, getting a positive injection of motivation, we shall focus on our strategic target that we shall achieve on the field of play.”

Meanwhile, Sredojevic reserved praise for midfielder Musa Nyatama, who scored in a man-of-the-match display against Bakgaga.

“I would like to use this opportunity to congratulate Musa Nyatama. He has been a role model, a positive example of a good player from day one since meeting him. It's not by accident that he won man of the match. I don’t call him Musa Nyatama, I call him 'Musalinho'.”
