Maritzburg United's Lebohang Maboe aims for top four

Posted: 4 January 2018 Time: 19:00

Maritzburg United midfielder Lebohang Maboe believes the team can finish as high as the top four this season.

The Team of Choice are ninth in the Premiership standings with 18 points from 14 games, and will kick-start 2018 with a clash against Ajax Cape Town at Cape Town Stadium on Friday (20h00).

Maboe says Fadlu Davids' side must treat every match in the second half of the season like a cup final.

"It's about taking each match as a cup final, taking each game as it comes, starting with the one on Friday," he told the club's website.

“We want the three points on Friday and then we can start thinking about the next game."

He added: "I feel like we can do a bit better, because we are a bunch of very good players. We need to keep on working hard and I'm sure we can do better than we did in the first round.

"I hope the fans continue to get behind us – we really want to make them proud in the second leg of season. I still believe we can reach the top six or even the top four if play to our best."

Maritzburg have been boosted by the January signing of defender Bokang Tlhone from Bidvest Wits.
