Defender Matteo Darmian approached over Italy return, Manchester United unlikely to entertain offers

Posted: 3 January 2018 Time: 14:42

Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian has received several offers to return to Italy in the current transfer window, according to his agent.

The Italian joined the Red Devils from Torino in 2015 but has struggled to hold down a regular spot in Jose Mourinho’s starting XI, having managed just two appearances in the Premier League this season.

The 28-year-old has since been tipped with a move away from Old Trafford and his agent, Tullio Tinti, has confirmed their is plenty of interest in his client - although not from reported suitors AS Roma - but doubts United will be entertaining any offers for the defender in the current window.

Tinti told Rete Sport: “I have never received calls from Roma for the player. There are contacts with other Serie A teams, but not with the Giallorossi.

“For the moment, the boy is not for sale.”
