Stars close in on Downs keeper

Free State Stars are closing in on a deal to bring back goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Ngobeni has had to twiddle his thumbs at Chloorkop since returning to the Brazilians following a successful loan spell at Stars last season.

The former Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper is behind Ugandan star Denis Onyango and Zambian Kennedy Mweene in the pecking order at Chloorkop.

However, Stars are in "advanced" talks with Sundowns to re-sign Ngobeni and farm out fellow gloveman Olivier Kwizera to Mthatha Bucks, according to a source at the Bethlehem-based outfit.

"The negotiations between Sundowns and Free State Stars over the services of Ngobeni are now at an advanced stage," says the source.

"Kwizera is being loaned out to Mthatha Bush Bucks," he adds of the Rwandan.

Ivorian Badra Ali Sangare is coach Luc Eymael's current first-choice keeper at Ea Lla Koto.
