Jomo Cosmos boss Jomo Sono says Rhulani Mokwena's decision to join Orlando Pirates was a good move.
Mokwena‚ who was assistant to Pitso Mosimane at Mamelodi Sundowns when they won the CAF Champions League last year‚ joined Pirates in August on the recommendation of coach Milutin Sredojevic who replaced Kjell Jonevret.
Mokwena is the son of Pirates legend Julius 'KK' Sono and Jomo Sono is in uncle.
Pirates snatched Mokwena, who was not quite interested in playing football professional like the legends in his family, from Sundowns and they are hoping that he will one day go on to be the head coach.
"It's a good move for him. He decides for his own career but it's a good move for him," Sono tells KickOff.com.
"He is old enough to decide where he wants to go. Nobody [in the family] had an influence in his decision."
Jomo says from what he has seen, Mokwena can one day become a top head coach in the country.
“From what I hear from people who are working with him is that he will be one of the good coaches in the country.
“It is difficult when you are an assistant because you are always in the background, but from what Pitso [Mosimane] was saying, he has done a good job for him."
