Morfou brothers enter Platinum Stars race

Posted: 28 December 2017 Time: 10:30 has learnt that former Mpumalanga Black Aces owners, the Morfou brothers, have joined the race to buy Platinum Stars.

According to a well-placed source, siblings George and Mario hope to secure a deal with Dikwena in the new year.

"There has been meetings. There is progress," says the source.

"The Marfou brothers are determined to buy the club.

"The only challenge now is to relocate the club from Rustenburg to Johannesburg.

"The discussions are ongoing."

Businessman Thabo Mokgatle has also been linked with purchasing the Premiership outfit, which is reportedly undergoing financial challenges.

Cape Town City were formed last season when the Morfou brothers sold the topflight status of Aces to ex-Ajax Cape Town boss John Comitis.
