Kaizer Chiefs left back Tsepo Masilela has thanked Amakhosi's followers for their support in 2017 and says they will fight to bring back the happy days.

Masilela, who has been troubled by injury, knows that expectations are high and wants to see the club living up to them.

Chiefs concluded the year with back-to-back victories over Platinum Stars and Ajax Cape Town. At the halfway mark, Chiefs are third on the Absa Premiership table with 22 points, six behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

“Let me start with fans of Kaizer Chiefs obviously, thank you for the support and we appreciate it," Masilela said.

“We know we have not been delivering trophies and, of course, expectations are high. We are saying let’s fight all and I’m sure happy days are coming soon.”

Masilela's teammates Willard Katsande, Joseph Molangoane sent Christmas messages out to the club's fans. They urged supporters not to drink and drive.

“I want to say Merry Christmas to all Chiefs fans and please don’t drink and drive. Be safe so that we can come back next year in healthy shape and keep on supporting Kaizer Chiefs,” said Katsande, who missed the win over Ajax due to suspension.

Molangoane, who has been playing as a wing back, said: “To those who are traveling around the country, please don’t drink and drive and, drive according to the rules of the roads. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.”

Amakhosi youngster Yusuf Bunting, who was promoted this season after his good performances in the Multichoice Diski Challenge, also sent out his message for Christmas.

“I just want to wish all the Chiefs fans a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Please drive safe, look at the road signs, spend time with your family which is the most important thing.”

Chiefs will start the 2018 with a tough match against Supersport United at Mbombela Stadium on January 6.
