La Liga quash Spain’s 2018 World Cup snub fears

Posted: 24 December 2017 Time: 14:15

La Liga president Javier Tebas has rubbished suspended Royal Spanish Football Federation president Angel Maria Villar’s claims Spain could be ejected from the 2018 World Cup.

Villar claimed this week that Spanish government interference at the RFEF could result in FIFA expelling LA Furia Roja from next year’s Russia finals.

However, Tebas insists there is no truth in those statements and is confident Spain will not only contest the World Cup, but that they will go on to lift the trophy.

"It's a supine stupidity that Spain will not be at the World Cup and I hope the population doesn't believe it,” he told Marca Radio.

“Spain will be, and will win, the World Cup.”
