New Richards Bay coach Jean Loscuito says the presence of club chairman Jomo Biyela was a key factor in his decision to join the NFD strugglers, and insists he wasn't sacked from Black Leopards.
The Belgian linked up with the KwaZulu-Natal side in November shortly after parting ways with Leopards.
Loscuito faces a difficult task in moving Bay away from the relegation zone, but the relaxed coach says he enjoys the challenge.
"You know last year after the play-offs I received a lot of propositions in the PSL and NFD, good teams," Loscuito tells KickOff.com.
"This season after the Jomo Cosmos match I spoke with [David] Thidiela about being released because I can't continue the same... because you know I had a lot of problems with somebody. So we agreed the release together.
"It was not a sacking, I don't understand why the media put 'Black Leopards sack the coach' title. I was not sacked, I tell you it was a mutual release. I actually spoke to two or three teams after my release and I spoke to Richards Bay. I know the situation of Richards Bay. I know also the new chairman, his philosophy. He is very good, I like his objective. That chairman is not stupid, he knows it's a new team and building a new team is not easy, especially in the first year. I accepted the job because he spoke very well with me and I accepted.
"I could have waited maybe six or seven months and maybe find a new team in the PSL or NFD next season but now... I love working. I love my job and I accept the objectives of Richards Bay. I'm very happy here because the chairman is very professional."
He adds: "I'm very happy with my new challenge. The objective is simple... don't relegate the team. We will finish well because we have a very good team. We will buy maybe two or three players for the second round, we don't need a lot of players."
