Bartlett on PSL promotion race

University of Pretoria coach Shaun Bartlett says AmaTuks must run their own race in the battle for automatic promotion with the likes of Highlands Park and Jomo Cosmos.
Highlands, who were relegated from the Premiership after spending one season in the topflight last term, are currently topping the National First Division table with 30 points - two points ahead of Cosmos and five in front of third-placed Tuks.
Since appointing former Bafana Bafana assistant coach Owen da Gama in September, the Lions of the North have had a spring in their step having won four of their last five matches to set the pace in the second tier at the midway point of the campaign.
Bartlett, who guided Golden Arrows back to the PSL by winning the NFD title in 2014/15, says his side should not pay too much attention to their rivals.
"It's going to be a tough one. Obviously there are a few teams that are competing to get that automatic promotion spot," said Bartlett.
"Highlands Park have changed the technical team and obviously Jomo Sono [Cosmos boss] has been around for a few years and he knows exactly what's needed and how to get the result.
"You've seen this league is very, very tight. You win one or two games and they have a hiccup along the way then things change.
"For us we just have to make sure we do what we have to do. We have to run our race. We can't be too concerned about what Highlands do and where they go... we got to win our games in order to compete and make sure we get the first place," concluded the Bafana legend.
