Cape Town City playmaker Teko Modise hopes to be free of his injury woes in the second half of the Absa Premiership season.
The 35-year-old has been restricted to 13 starts in all competitions for City due to fitness issues since his off-season arrival from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Modise won many trophies in his six-and-a-half years with the Brazilians and is eager to also stamp his mark at the Citizens.
"The change is something I wanted to have," he tells KickOff.com. "My mind was good. I knew if I wanted to start fresh I had to make these changes. For me to come here it was not a hassle. I came to a team that I wanted to come to, it’s just I’ve been unfortunately struggling with injuries. I hope the injury I had, it’s going to be the last so I can start helping the team."
Asked if he felt it was the right time to leave Gauteng, Modise says this didn't enter his thinking.
"I never thought of it in that way. I just wanted change. I also wanted to come to a new city and start afresh and have the passion back for the game. The best place for me at the time was Cape Town. It was not easy coming down because I needed to sacrifice a lot of things. But I’m actually happy that I am here and I made the right decision to come here."
