Giggs criticises United recruitment

Ryan Giggs has criticised Manchester United’s recruitment policy after revealing his suggestions they sign Gabriel Jesus and Kylian Mbappe fell on deaf ears.
The former Red Devils winger had been working with United’s scouting department while he was assistant coach to Louis van Gaal in 2014, where he had been watching Jesus and Mbappe with a keen interest.
However, the Welshman’s advice that United should snap up the pair was ignored and the decision has since come back to bite the Old Trafford club, with Jesus currently at rivals Manchester City and considered one of the world’s most prolific talents, while the equally-talented Mbappe now plays for Paris Saint-Germain after a £160million deal.
“I watched Gabriel Jesus play three years ago,” Giggs told The Times. “I watched Mbappé for a year. I was watching them with the scout and it was a no-brainer.
“It was just like, ‘Get them.’
“It would have been £5 million or something — get them, loan them back — and that's where the recruitment could have been better.”
