Teko talks ambitions and CT vs Gauteng

Cape Town City midfielder Teko Modise has given little thought to playing for another team in the twilight of his career.

The 35-year-old joined City on a two-year deal in July as a free agent following a six-and-a-half year stay at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Asked if he would like to end his career in the Cape, Modise reiterated his commitment to the John Comitis-owned Citizens.

"It will be unfair to think of other teams other than Cape Town City because I have treated very well here," Modise tells KickOff.com

"If there is other interest, I would really love to help Cape Town City even more in any other position they put me in.

"I’ve seen and spoken to John about the passion that he has and the city in terms of football. It’s very encouraging. Those are the types of people I want to be around, people who are ambitious and want to see other people succeed and John has that mentality.

"I want to be part of this for as long as I can, even without playing. I want to see Cape Town City as one of the most recognised teams."

The former Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United playmaker has noticed there are differences to plying one's trade in the Mother City versus Gauteng.

"The difference is I’m away from home. With the challenges like the weather; it’s a windy place, other than that it’s the same. Gauteng has also more football facilities unlike Cape Town – here we struggle to play friendly matches on good pitches. But in Gauteng there are always facilities and there are always teams available for friendly matches.

"Other that if your mind is set up straight and right to move to a new environment, you find comfort and discomfort. I have joined a great team that has been run like a family. It’s a good environment to be in."

Modise has managed 13 appearances in all competitions this season despite being hampered by injury.
