New Ajax Cape Town head coach Muhsin Ertugral believes a "respectable position" on the Absa Premiership log is still achievable this season.
The Urban Warriors confirmed Ertugral's arrival shortly after the departure of Dutch coach Stanley Menzo on Thursday, taking the reins for a fourth time.
The Turkish coach had been without a permanent job and returns to the PSL for the first time since his abrupt departure from Orlando Pirates, after just three months in charge, in November last year.
Despite finding the team in 15th position on the standings, with only 13 points from 14 games thus far, Ertugral believes he can still get the best out of their players as he targets "one or two additions" in the January transfer period.
“Ari [Efstathiou] and I had a long chat regarding the possibility of my engagement as the head coach, where he outlined the plans for the future and the restructuring that has taken place since my last stint here,” Ertugral told the club's website.
“I have watched the team recently and believe that with one or two additions in critical positions, we will be able to find ourselves in a more respectable position on the log standings.
“There are many talented players in the team and I believe with the right guidance, I will be able to get the best out of them.”
The 58-year-old also thanked the Ajax management for affording him yet another opportunity to take charge of the Cape-based outfit.
“I would like to thank the board of Ajax Cape Town for the opportunity to once again allow me to lead this great club and hope that I will be able to bring back a smile to our incredible and loyal supporters,” he concluded.
The club also confirmed that the squad is set to return from their festive break on December 27, when they will begin preparations for the second half of the season.
Their first challenge of the new year will be at home to ninth-placed Maritzburg United on January 5, with kick-off set for 20h00.
