Stanley Menzo: January is key for Ajax Cape Town

Posted: 20 December 2017 Time: 18:00

Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo feels January will be a key month for the relegation-threatened outfit.

Ajax are second-from-bottom on the Premiership table with 13 points from 14 games - two points above ailing champions Bidvest Wits.

Menzo's side will resume their campaign with a visit from Maritzburg United on January 5 before facing Mamelodi Sundowns, Platinum Stars, Cape Town City, Free State Stars and Orlando Pirates [Jan 31].

“January 2018 will be very important for this team‚ for the club‚” Menzo told the club's website.

“We have six games where we have to gain points as much as possible because it is tough at the bottom of the league. It is going to be a very important month.

“Confidence you get by working hard in training and doing the things you need to do in training properly.

“I can’t give confidence [to the players] just like that‚ everybody has to work for it.

“Of course‚ when your team is not doing well‚ it is stressful. It is not nice but it is my job.”

The Urban Warriors will return to training at Ikamva on December 27, having lost 1-0 to Kaizer Chiefs in their final match of the year this past Saturday.
