Bloemfontein Celtic must put their disastrous display against Mamelodi Sundowns behind them as they look to respond in tonight's final game of the year against SuperSport United.
This is according to Celtic assistant coach John Maduka, whose mid-table side were thumped 4-1 by the log leaders at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday.
"We must quickly forget about our disastrous display on Saturday and swiftly focus on the SuperSport United game,” Maduka told the club's website.
“We can’t afford to lose another game, especially on our home turf and players know the importance of winning this one as a Christmas gift for our ardent supporters. We fully understand that it won’t be easy, but again our priority as coaches is to make sure our players have psychologically recovered and are ready to fight diligently.
“We looked a bit fatigued in our last game and we are looking forward to the short break to help the players regain strength. However, that cannot be used as a pretext. Instead we must give 120% commitment as we wrap up our games for 2017. We enthusiastically look forward to 2018 matches and we all have the responsibility to protect the brand by producing positive results,” he concluded.
Siwelele were without head coach Veselin Jelusic for the match against Sundowns as the Serbian flew home to renew his UEFA A coaching licence. However, he returns to the dugout this evening.
Kick-off is at 19h30 at Dr Molemela Stadium, with Phunya Sele Sele looking to rise from eighth place on the Premiership standings with 19 points from 13 games.
