Ngoma awaits injury fate

Cape Town City winger Aubrey Ngoma will only know the severity of his injury on Thursday as he faces yet another spell on the sidelines.
The talented speedster only returned to action at the end of November following a five-month lay-off due to a knee injury, and looked to be regaining the form that made him one of the PSL’s best players last term, scoring in his first start this season in a 1-1 draw with SuperSport United.
However, in City’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday night, having bagged an assist for the only goal of the game, Ngoma pulled up and fell to the ground after one of his trademark runs just minutes before half-time and was substituted at the break, gingerly walking off the pitch with what looked like a hamstring injury.
The 28-year-old risks facing another long spell on the treatment table, having made just five appearances so far this campaign, but will only know his fate on Thursday.
After Tuesday’s game, he tweeted:
Thanks to everyone for the well wishes I’m hoping it’s nothing major I’m getting a scan on Thursday to check the severity ???????? Hope to be back very soon⚽️— Aubrey Ngoma (@aubreyngoma11) December 19, 2017
Following their return from Pretoria, the City squad have been given just over a week off, and will reassemble on December 28 ahead of their first fixture of 2018, an away encounter against struggling Platinum Stars on January 6.
