Eric Tinkler questions SuperSport United players' commitment

SuperSport United coach Eric Tinkler questioned his player's commitment following their 3-1 defeat to Baroka FC at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
SuperSport have won once in five matches since their CAF Confederation Cup final heartache last month, beating Ajax Cape Town before drawing with Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City and losing to Free State Stars and Bakgaga.
Tinkler is naturally concerned with the slump in form.
“It doesn’t come easy and I will tell you why; because there is no big difference with the quality of players in other teams,” Tinkler said.
“Your application has to be entirely good, your desire has to be very good. The fact that we are a team that has been very successful of late, we are a team to beat and everybody comes highly motivated against us.
“And if we don't match them for the same desire and the same passion and the same determination, then you are going to come unstuck - that is the harsh reality in this league.”
Tinkler continued: “That's why you see Wits at the bottom of the league when they were league winners last season.
“The desire and passion needs to be there because nothing has changed. We are doing what we were doing when we were successful in the MTN8 and the CAF Confederation Cup going as far as we did.
“We’ve not changed anything. So you obviously question the commitment and the desire. The determination, is it there? That's the question I raise right now.”
Tinkler is hopeful his side, in 11th place on the Premiership table with 15 points from 10 games, can end 2017 positively when they face Bloemfontein Celtic at Dr Molemela Stadium on Wednesday (19h30).
“From the six games we have targeted at least 14 points and we have not achieved that which is extremely disappointing from our side.
“We have 10 games 15 points, we are behind the target we set ourselves. We have to keep pushing if we are to do what we have done in the first 10. So we have to up our game against Bloemfontein Celtic.”
