Polokwane City returned to winning ways in the Absa Premiership with a 1-0 victory over Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Salulani Phiri came close to opening the scoring in the 11th minute with a right-footed shot just outside the box but it sailed over the crossbar.
Jabulani Maluleke had a chance in the 22nd minute from a free-kick from 25-yards out, but he could not find the target.
The match became a scrappy affair after half-an-hour as both sides lost possession easily and could not put together combination plays.
James Okwuosa produced a great save out of George Chigova in the 37th minute with a powerful header following a corner from Abel Mabaso.
Mabaso could not continue with the match five minutes before halftime after suffering an injury and was replaced by Kurt Lentjies.
Sizwe Mdlinzo almost broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime but Chigova did well to save the well struck shot from just outside the box. The first stanza ended, 0-0.
Teboho Moloi made his first alteration five minutes after the break, bringing on Mark Mayambela for Mpho Mvelase.
Katlego Mashego skied his shot over the crossbar in the 64th minute after a brilliant cross from Lentjies.
Mashego was withdrawn in the 72nd minute and replaced by Samuel Julies in a like-for-like substitution as the hosts pushed for an opening goal.
Rise and Shine came alive after 80 minutes as Rodney Ramagalela forced a save out of Brighton Mhlongo with a well struck shot from the edge of the box.
City were awarded a penalty with five minutes left on the clock as Okwuosa was adjudged to have fouled Ramagalela inside the area. The hard-running striker stepped up and made it 1-0 to the visitors.
United pushed numbers forward in the closing minutes but Bernard Molekwa's troops held on for a smash-and-grab victory.
