KickOff.com has been informed that SuperSport United have reached an agreement to part ways with Togolese attacker Dove Wome.
Wome, whose contract with the club was due to expire at the end of the season, has struggled to establish himself at the club since joining from Mamelodi Sundowns.
He was loaned out to Orlando Pirates for the second half of last season, but he was unable to make a mark and the Soweto giants decided against signing him on a permanent deal.
KickOff.com has been informed that Wome has jetted out of the country and his representatives are busy mapping the way forward for him. He has only played six matches in all competitions for Matsatsantsa this season.
Ajax Cape Town and Bidvest Wits are said to be interested in signing the former Free State Stars man.
“Dove Wome has signed an agreement with Supersport United to terminate his contract,” a source tells KickOff.com.
“The coach [Eric Tinkler] said he’s not part of his plans anymore and he went to meet the chairman [Khulu Sibiya]. And from what I hear Ajax Cape Town and Bidvest Wits want him.
“Wome won’t be affected anymore in terms of signing for any club in the PSL because he’s now registered as a local player.”
SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews says: “We have agreed with Dove that if he has any good longer term offers then he can pursue them. He is not under any presser to leave as he is contracted until the end of the season.”
The player’s agent, Lizwe Mthethwa of Aftersec Sports Group, confirmed the agreement.
“We have reached an agreement with Supersport regarding Wome and he’s at home as we speak. He left here on Friday last week to relax a bit but he’ll be back in the country next week Wednesday,” he says.
