Cape Town City chairman John Comitis says players’ concerns over new contracts and their future with the club should not be an issue as they are all on the “same page” regarding the matter.
The likes of Tshepo Gumede, Lehlohonolo Majoro and Robyn Johannes are entering the last six months of their deals, meaning they will be free to sign pre-contracts with any team in January.
However, Comitis insists there has been dialogue with affected parties.
“I’ve met with the players on a regular basis and everyone knows where they stand,” Comitis tells KickOff.com.
“We’re on the same page and I don’t see that there could be an issue. We’ve sat down and had regular conversations with the players. To me there is not really a problem of any sort.”
The former Ajax Cape Town boss also made it clear his skipper Johannes remains very much a part of their plans.
“He’s one of our most senior players and has a role to play on and off the field. He definitely is part of our plans and has a future with the club.”
The eighth-placed Citizens will play their final home game of the season against AmaZulu at Cape Town Stadium on Friday (20h00).
