Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde says Chelsea amongst toughest opponents in Champions League

Posted: 14 December 2017 Time: 08:15

Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde believes Chelsea are one of the toughest teams they could have drawn for the UEFA Champions League last-16.

The two European powerhouses will lock horns over two legs, starting at Stamford Bridge on February 20 before the return fixture at the Nou Camp on March 14.

Barca suffered defeat the last time the sides met, going down 3-2 on aggregate in the European Cup semi-finals in 2011/12.

“It’s a tough draw,” he told Barca’s TV network.

“We knew there were tough rivals in the draw and they are one of the hardest we could get.

“Chelsea are a very complicated side, they are very strong and have worked hard on their tactics.”
