Mekoa: Downs have turned the corner

Maritzburg United midfielder Deolin Mekoa feels star-studded Mamelodi Sundowns have turned the corner and he expects a stern test against the Premiership leaders tonight.
The teams will collide at 19h30 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, with both coming off two straight victories.
Maritzburg snapped an 11-game winless run in all competitions with a 4-2 defeat of Cape Town City before they hammered Baroka 3-0 last week.
Downs, who showed interest in Mekoa last season, put four unanswered goals past Bakaga and then edged Golden Arrows 1-0 in KwaMashu on Sunday.
"I watched their game against Arrows and it’s going to be a tough game," Mekoa told his club's website.
"They won the last couple of their games and we won our last couple of games so it’s going to be a good game and probably a tight affair. We’ll be trying our best to get three points, or at least a point away from home.
"They do have lots of quality in the squad and they have turned the corner. Come Wednesday I think we are going to see fireworks. End of the day we want it badly so we can close on a good note."
The 24-year-old says the Team of Choice, in mid-table with 17 points from 12 games, can draw confidence from their recent exploits but not get carried away.
"The coach was always saying that we are going to win and when we win, we will score more goals and that showed on Tuesday and Friday. Now we plan to continue scoring and playing our football.
"We can take confidence, but we are not going to be over-confident or relaxed. We have got to keep pushing so we can end the year in a good position. We must stay away from complacency.
"The coach keeps on telling us that we mustn’t be complacent and to get too carried away when we are winning, like at the start of the season we won a couple of games and were on top of the log. I think maybe we got too relaxed and then we dropped back down."
