SuperSport United midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane believes their team unity will be tested before the year's out, starting with tonight's Absa Premiership clash with Free State Stars.
Matsatsantsa are set to battle Ea Lla Koto at Goble Park at 19h30 as they play catch-up following their recent CAF campaign.
The Tshwane side are currently down in 11th place on the league table, with 15 points from eight matches thus far, and trail leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have played three more matches, by seven points.
A victory would take SuperSport up to seventh spot, before they take on Baroka and Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday and next Tuesday respectively.
“It’ll be a difficult task for us against Free State Stars, especially away from home, but we’re looking forward to the challenge as we have prepared very well,” Letsholonyane tells KickOff.com.
“It’s important for us to get back to winning ways and try to keep with our points target before the end of the year.”
With three games in the space of seven days, coach Eric Tinkler is likely to tinker with his line-up to limit fatigue.
The 35-year-old Letsholonyane has stressed the importance of putting the team first and supporting one another as game-time could be shared over the coming days.
“It’s important that we stick together as a team, which obviously consists of both youth and experienced players, so we need to keep supporting each other,” 'Yeye' emphasises.
“Whoever gets an opportunity to play on the day should know that he has the support from his teammates. So our duty as senior players is we need to keep the young ones grounded.
“They [younger players] also help us [seniors] in keeping us on our toes and teaching us whatever we can learn from them, and at the end of the day it’s a team effort.
“As a unit, we need to stay humble and make sure we work hard to contribute to the success of the team.”
