Madisha: Every game is like a final

Posted: 8 December 2017 Time: 16:00

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha wants to see the club on top of the table after the final game of 2017, but he does not want to start making predictions if they will win the league.

Sundowns are top of the table on goal difference heading into this weekend’s round of matches, which start tonight with a clash between Maritzburg United and Baroka FC at Harry Gwala Stadium (20h00).

Sundowns will be in action on Sunday against Golden Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium, looking to get another victory after their 4-0 trouncing of Baroka on Tuesday. The 2016 CAF Champions League winners have three games in hand and have a good chance of finishing top of the table at the end of this month.

“That’s our objective [to be at the top]. If we finish top of the table when we go for the break then it will be a bonus. But we are taking it one game at a time. I don’t want to predict how the league will finish this season,” said Madisha, who understands the importance of staying focused and being consistent throughout the whole season.

Sundowns will fancy their chances of collecting maximum points against an Arrows side that is without a victory in eight matches. The hosts have only won one match at home, but Madisha is not underestimating their opponents.

“It’s going to be a tough one. Every game we play we take it as a final. I have been watching them and I know their strengths. As a team we know what’s required, so we will do our best to win the game,” the Bafana Bafana defender said.

Arrows will need to be careful of Sundowns’ ruthless attack. Percy Tau and Khama Billiat are making a nuisance of themselves, while Sibusiso Vilakazi and Themba Zwane are also capable of chipping in with goals. It will no doubt be a busy afternoon for Clinton Larsen’s men on Sunday.
