Amajita got their COSAFA Under-20 Championships off to a winning start when they beat Mauritius 2-0 at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe, Zambia on Thursday.
Orlando Pirates striker Lyle Foster bagged a brace after coming off the bench at the start of the second half to secure top spot for South Africa in Group B.
Thabo Senong's side put out a dominant display but could not find the back of the net in the first half, as Thendo Mukumela, Luvuyo Mkatshana and Keanu Cupido all squandered chances to score.
Senong then threw Foster on at the start of the second half, and he finally broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute with a thunderous shot that was adjudged to have crossed the line after hitting the crossbar.
The 17-year-old then fired home a second in stoppage time to double his side's lead, and end any hopes of a comeback from the Mauritians.
Following Egypt's 1-0 win over Mozambique on Wednesday, South Africa move first in the group, while Mauritius go bottom, due to goal difference.
Amajita next face Mozambique in their penultimate group match on Saturday afternoon, with kick-off set for 14h30 (SA time).
