Mamelodi Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha growing in stature

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha has raised his hand to be one of the club’s penalty takers, as his confidence continues to grow as a first team regular.
Madisha opened the scoring from the penalty spot in Sundowns’ 4-0 thumping of Baroka FC on Tuesday night. It was a confident take from the Bafana Bafana defender, who says they practise spot kicks in training. He sent Bakgaga goalkeeper Virgil Vries the wrong way, opening the floodgates.
Since getting his chance to play regularly last season, Madisha has not looked back and has proven to be one of coach Pitso Mosimane’s most trusted men in defence.
Madisha did not have the best of starts to the season following the death of his sister, but is slowly getting back to his best.
"We had been practising all along, so we decided that I can be part of the group of players who take penalties. It’s not that I am the main penalty taker at the club. I am one of the ones who will be taking penalties," he tells KickOff.com.
Sundowns’ victory over Baroka moved them to the top of the Absa Premiership table on goal difference. They have three games in hand and will next face Golden Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday (15h30).
"It was an important victory against Baroka. We got a draw against Chippa, so we had to bounce back. We knew that that the game was not going to be easy, we did our homework and that’s why we managed to win.
"It was difficult game, but we managed to get the result," Madisha says.
