Bernard Parker expects emotional Absa Premiership clash with Chippa United

Posted: 5 December 2017 Time: 14:30

Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker is expecting an emotionally charged affair when they meet with Chippa United on Wednesday evening.

Chiefs will visit the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium for a second time, following their Telkom Knockout quarter-final victory over the Chilli Boys, in just over a month.

The last time the two sides met, tempers flared after the referee's decisions upset Chippa personnel, with their coach Teboho Moloi after the match notably insinuating that Amakhosi were favoured by the officials, before later retracting his comments.

However, Parker believes old wounds may be re-opened when they lock horns in the Absa Premiership this week, while insisting Chiefs need to focus on their own task, which is to collect maximum points in their remaining games in 2017.

"We know what to expect against Chippa, we played them a few weeks ago, and I think, the way things ended the last time, Chippa weren't happy – the whole team and the coach," said Parker.

"We know they will come out strong and it will be more of an emotional game for them, and it's just for us to keep calm and do our thing.

"Our focus now is to end the year on a high. We can collect maximum points from our three games [in December]."

Kick-off tomorrow is set for 19h30, with tickets on sale at Ticketpros for R40 (adults) and R20 (kids).

The Glamour Boys still need to face Platinum Stars and Ajax Cape Town before the close of the year, and the short PSL recess.
