Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde admits he will need to make a decision on whether to buy a new defender in January following injuries to Samuel Umtiti and Javier Mascherano.
France international Umtiti is facing two months on the sidelines with a hamstring strain while Mascherano is also on the sidelines, leaving Barca with only Gerard Pique and Thomas Vermaelen as recognisable centre-backs.
And while Valverde would prefer to stick with his current setup, he admits he may be forced into the market in the New Year.
Valverde said: "We have time to analyse that decision. December has just started and we know that Umtiti's injury is long-term but hopefully we can recover him in January.
“These questions emerge when there are injuries, there's always talk but, in principle, we're happy with the centre-backs we have got. We will have to see [whether is necessary to sign a new one]."
