Real Madrid president Florentino Perez gives head coach Zinedine Zidane full backing amid La Liga wobble

Posted: 4 December 2017 Time: 12:17

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez insists head coach Zinedine Zidane has the club’s full backing, despite rocky La Liga form this season.

The Galacticos missed the chance to close the gap at the top of the standings after their goalless draw against Athletic Bilbao, with leaders Barcelona having been held by Celta Vigo.

That has left Los Blancos eight points off the pace in the title race and Zidane under plenty of criticism from the club’s fans, but Perez has brushed off any talk of the Frenchman facing the sack.

"We have a team to keep dreaming with a wonderful trainer in Zinedine Zidane who has achieved everything with Real Madrid, the team of his life,” the Madrid chief told AS.

"He is one of our great symbols, one of the biggest icons who brings together the values and talent necessary to be the leader of one of the best squads we have ever had, captained by Sergio Ramos and Marcelo. They, too, are examples of our values."
