Barcelona striker Lionel Messi has rated Manchester City as one of the favourites to challenge for the UEFA Champions League crown this season.

The Citizens are currently undefeated in the English Premier League after 13 matches while they have won all of their five Group F matches in Europe.

And Messi, whose side are also already guaranteed passage to the European Cup last-16, admits City - now managed by former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola - are one of the main contenders for the title.

“[Man] City have been one of the strongest teams so far this season together with PSG,” the Argentina international told German magazine Kicker.
.
“But the season is still young; I would never discount Real Madrid because of their class and experience, even though they aren't picking up the expected results at the moment.

“Nor Bayern Munich. Bayern are the other big team that will be ready come the end of the season.'
